Infinite Jest — whoa, what a bunch of smartypants New Yorkers are.

I haven’t read the new Stieg Larsson yet but I like the first one a lot.  He’s a sad story and a bit of a poster boy for the notion of Everything in Moderation.  As noted on his website, at one point he was

… writing his detective novels at night, smoking 60 or morehand-rolled cigarettes a day and skipping most meals, the picture of a classic workaholic…

Don’t try that at home kids.

Anna Karenina is a big surprise — I wonder if it has something to do with the beginning of the semester — loads of freshman being forced to read the classics…
